OUR HISTORY
Our Journey
Known to our friends as CYP, we started life in 2016 as an in-house project, set up by Colwall Community Church, to support teenagers within the local community. Run by a youth worker, a member of the church leadership team and volunteers, our club gradually grew in both size and popularity.
By 2019, it was clear we needed more help with growing demand for our services, so with funding from BBC Children in Need, we were able to appoint our present CEO Alice Hill.
2020 saw further positive changes. Support and funding from the National Lottery Community Fund and partnering with the Counselling, Learning and Development Trust, has enabled growth of the team and the provision of a mental health and wellbeing support service for young people across Herefordshire and Worcestershire.
In 2022, we were granted independent charity status and with the continued support of The National Lottery Community Fund, The Eveson Trust and working together with other local community service groups such as Colwall Community Church, Colwall Rotary and local schools our journey continues on and our reach grows ever further.
Where are we now?
A busy year for CYP! In 2024 we are bursting with plans and there is so much going on here to tell you about. Our ongoing service for young people aged from Year 5 to age of 18, this includes: open access sessions on Thursdays and Friday nights in term time, where young people can get together for food, chat and activities; day trips and activities, during school holidays with travel provided; and 1-2-1 support sessions where young people can talk to a member of the team in safety and confidentiality.
Big projects for the year saw us hosting a May bank holiday Fun Day filling Colwall with fun and games. We have many projects still to come along with our yearly 5 week Summer programme and many more.
